In therapy, nothing is more important than your relationship with your therapist. Research tells us again and again that the model (or type) of therapy is not the best indicator of success in therapy, the best indicator of success is the quality of the relationship with your therapist.
That being said, you may be looking for a certain type of therapy, so below you will find a little bit about my personal approach:
I have received training and worked with many different models of therapy, but I have always been drawn to psychodynamic psychotherapy and have focused much of my training in this area. Nancy McWilliams, one of today's most prolific psychoanalytic scholars describes a core belief of analytic treatment as "the belief that knowing oneself deeply will have complex positive effects, that being honest is central to health and especially mental health."
